How much does a patio cost?

Price depends on size, material, how much base and excavation the soil needs, and site access. Brick usually costs more than concrete pavers. After the site visit you get a fixed written price, not an hourly estimate.

Why does the base matter so much?

Much of Sonoma County sits on clay that swells when wet and shrinks when dry. Without enough compacted gravel and a slope that sheds water, pavers and brick heave and settle within a few winters. We excavate, compact in lifts, and grade every surface to drain away from the house.
